When I arrived in Hong Kong in January, 1986, to work in the
insurance business, I quickly discovered that expatriates had very little to
choose from in terms of policies—premiums were high and coverage was not
comprehensive. Since the focus of my work was to provide insurance to
expatriates—both to individuals and to companies located throughout the Asia
region—I decided that I could best serve my clients by forming my own company.
In partnership with fellow Swiss national Wayne E. Beer, Swiss-Sure was
established two years later in 1988, with the guiding principle of providing
“made to measure” insurance solutions to its clients based on sound advice and a
clear explanation of the relative merits of respective policies.
Swiss-Sure has not only sustained itself over the years—it has thrived. Why? In
addition to the knowledge and expertise that is the hallmark of Swiss-Sure, I
believe it is primarily because of our honest approach. The success of
Swiss-Sure is proof that honesty pays. If one has a superior product or service,
the market is always willing to listen. It may take time to build trust, but
once that trust is gained, both parties benefit and a life-long relationship of
enduring value can be established.
